The PBS Impact Foundation, in partnership with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., celebrated Anderson-Livsey Elementary School as its inaugural National Adopt-a-School award winner on Tuesday, October 28. This recognition comes with a $10,000 grant to advance the educational and social programs for the students.

The initiative is designed to strengthen partnerships between local schools and community organizations to promote academic excellence and holistic student development. The fraternity has awarded $1,000 grants to schools across each of its seven regions over the past 10 years. This is the first time the fraternity and foundation have partnered to make a deeper impact for a single school. Anderson-Livsey Elementary was selected for its unwavering commitment to student success and its ongoing collaboration with the Rho Beta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. The chapter has played a pivotal role in mentoring, volunteerism, and resource support for the school’s students and staff, making the partnership a natural fit for the foundation’s mission.

“The Adopt-a-School initiative represents our belief that community investment in education transforms lives,” said Justin Gibson, Chairman of the PBS Impact Foundation. “Anderson-Livsey exemplifies what it means to cultivate an environment where students can thrive both academically and socially.”

The $10,000 grant will support programs and activities that enhance the educational and social development of Anderson-Livsey’s students, including enrichment initiatives, classroom resources, and student engagement opportunities.

In addition to the grant, the PBS Impact Foundation expressed appreciation to the educators of Anderson-Livsey Elementary by donating a new Keurig coffee machine and a large assortment of K-cups for the teachers and staff. The gesture served as a token of gratitude for their dedication and daily commitment to student achievement. The Rho Beta Sigma chapter also provided Halloween buckets and candy for the children to enjoy.

"At Anderson-Livsey, we believe in the power of community partnerships to transform education," said Christopher Jackson, principal of the school. "The commitment demonstrated by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and the PBS Impact Foundation aligns perfectly with our mission to equip students with the academic, social, and emotional tools needed to thrive. Your support will strengthen our ability to provide equitable opportunities, promote leadership development, and foster a culture of excellence for all students."

The presentation ceremony, attended by school administrators, members of the Rho Beta Sigma Chapter, and representatives of the PBS Impact Foundation, celebrated the power of collaboration between education and community leadership. Also, in attendance were:
