Recently elected Georgia State Director, Monaleto Irby, had a goal for the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity in the state of Georgia: To host a statewide of brotherhood event. With the assistance of the Kappa Zeta Sigma Chapter of Warner Robins and Georgia State Executive Board, that goal came to fruition with the inaugural Brotherhood Tailgate. Saturday, June 29, 2019 was a day in which over 300 Phi Beta Sigma brothers, sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, family members and friends from around the state gathered in Byron, Georgia’s North Peach Park to celebrate the awesome bond of the Royal Blue and Pure White “Phamily.” Despite the occasional afternoon showers, there was plenty of great food and fellowship among all. For some, it was a reunion, as brothers had not seen each other in years. Some of the more recognizable brothers at the Brotherhood Tailgate were 28th International President Hon. Bill Stanley, International Director of Social Action, Chris Rey, and Southern Region Director, Roy Edmonds. In addition to the fellowship, attendees also brought canned goods to support the United Way ‘Day of Action’, which was held the same day in nearby Macon, Georgia. Bro. Irby, the executive board and the local chapter were well pleased with the success of the event and plan to host event in years to come.
