Georgia Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Earn Regional Honors for Educational Excellence and Community Impact

The Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. – State of Georgia proudly celebrated a historic and award-winning showing at the 2026 Southern Regional Conference, receiving multiple regional honors that recognized the outstanding educational leadership, community engagement, and statewide impact of Georgia chapters and brothers.
Under the leadership of Georgia State Director of Education Brother Christian Harden, the Georgia Education Team continues to establish itself as a leading force within the Southern Region through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, scholarship initiatives, and service-centered educational outreach rooted in Phi Beta Sigma’s national program of Education.
During the conference, Georgia received the following regional recognitions:
- Georgia Debate Team Competition Winners – Brother Ca’shun Barr and Brother Ahmad Djigal
- Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Educator of the Year – Brother Joe Freeman
- Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Administrator of the Year – Dr. Angelo Simmons
- Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Adopt-A-School Chapter of the Year – Rho Beta Sigma Chapter
- Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Education Chapter of the Year
- Large Chapter Division – Kappa Alpha Sigma Chapter
- X-Large Chapter Division – Lambda Sigma Chapter
- Education State Director’s Award – Brother Christian Harden
Throughout the past year, Georgia’s Education Team has led impactful initiatives designed to strengthen educational outcomes and community transformation across the state. These initiatives included:
- Enhancing literacy and STEAM education opportunities in Georgia communities
- Strengthening sustainable partnerships with schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations
- Expanding scholarship opportunities and college-readiness pipelines
- Aligning educational programming with national observances such as Read Across America Week
One of Georgia’s most significant accomplishments was Anderson-Livsey Elementary School, the Rho Beta Sigma Chapter’s Adopt-A-School partner, receiving the inaugural $10,000 Adopt-A-School Grant awarded by the PBS Impact Foundation. This prestigious recognition highlights the strength of the partnership between Rho Beta Sigma Chapter and Anderson-Livsey Elementary School and demonstrates the meaningful educational impact that intentional collaboration between Phi Beta Sigma chapters and local schools can create within the community.
